About
Connext Japan Djakarta Ennichi was initiated by the Indonesian
Japan Culture Association (Asosiasi Budaya Jepang Indonesia - ABJI) as an international
Japanese cultural festival, based on the traditional Japanese "Ennichi" festival concept.
It is held in collaboration with CONNEXT JAPAN, a project by the Japanese company WOWNAS Co., LTD.,
which specializes in building connections between institutions in Japan and those overseas.
The main concepts of the event are:
- The presence of governors, representatives, and booths from various Japanese prefectures in Indonesia.
- A culinary bazaar, community stands, and exhibitions of distinctive Japanese products.
- Performances and showcases of both traditional and modern arts from Japan and Indonesia.
- A cultural parade featuring a collaboration between the Japanese Mikoshi and Jakarta's Ondel-Ondel.
About this year's theme:
新章
Shinshou"A New Chapter"
Batavia Kota Tua Jakarta (Jakarta Old Town Batavia)
is a historical area that has
witnessed the birth and growth of Jakarta, from the Batavia era to the present day.
This area is where the roots of Jakarta began — as a center of trade, cultural exchange, and
government activities.
Kota Tua is not only rich in historical value, but also stands as a symbol of cultural heritage
that is preserved and brought to life by the people of Jakarta.
Likewise, Ennichisai, a Japanese cultural festival that has
taken place for over a decade in Jakarta, has now become part of the history of Japanese
cultural development in the city.
When these two historic legacies come together, what emerges is not just a new concept,
but also a new story and a new shared memory.
A new chapter that shows Jakarta's readiness to become a global city—one that respects its historical
heritage while also embracing the diversity of world cultures.
